We are thrilled to announce Annabel Lawrenson as our new Trustee. Here are a few words from Annabel:
I began volunteering with the Dream Factory over 14yrs ago, because it is a charity that is close to my heart. The Dream Factory was started in memory of Oliver Mills, who was my son’s best friend. Oliver was an extremely kind and incredibly brave young boy, he became my inspiration. I wanted to try and do something that could help make a difference to children like Oliver and their families.
I have been actively involved in helping grant dreams for these deserving children. This includes meetings with the children and their families, sometimes in a hospital environment, sometimes in their homes. I then go through the process of trying to make their dream a reality. At times this can be a challenge, however always working as part of a team when the dream does come to fruition, it is both rewarding and humbling.
I have also volunteered at fundraising events, such as Golf Days, Balls, Polo Events and Ladies’ Lunches to name a few, because without these the dreams could not be granted. The Dream Factory is very much about working as a team.
Then two years ago, I started working in the Dream Factory office for two days per week in an administrative capacity. This has given me further insight as to what goes on behind the scenes and the amount of commitment involved. My role includes assisting Avril Mills with administration for fundraising and events. I help with the finance records for our treasurer. I work very closely with Seema Hindocha, our dream coordinator, with dreams administration, and I am currently in the process of working as the representative for The Dream Factory for the Disneyland Paris wish programme.
I feel that working with such an incredible charity, that is The Dream Factory, my skillset has been further enhanced. I strive to show compassion, caring, respect, loyalty, and commitment in my work, that is a privilege to be a part of. Like everyone in involved in the charity, the forefront is my belief and passion in The Dream Factory
