The Redbridge Cycle Centre played host to an event with a difference recently. Young wheelchair users pushed by skaters could be seen gleefully zooming around the track, cheered on by some familiar faces from the world of sport.
So what was the occasion ?
It was a joint fundraiser for The Dream Factory, the local charity that grants the wishes of poorly youngsters, and Wheels and Wheelchairs, a group that pairs wheelchairs users with skaters for fun activities. And as for those sporting stars? Step forward boxers Michael Watson and Collin McMillan and Paralympian Anne Wafula-Strike, who all just happen to be Patrons of The Dream Factory.
More than £7,000 was raised from what everyone deemed to be a great day.
