Aistis is 22 years old and was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma which is a rare type of bone cancer. The cancer originated in his right scapula (shoulder blade), and has also spread to lymph nodes and a lung. It is being treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. A surgery is planned in the near future, which will consist of removal and replacement of the right scapula, as well as possible removal of tissue around it (depending on effectiveness of previous treatment).
After Aistis’s surgery his mobility will be severely impaired, so throughout the recovery period (which can take up to a year), there will be some special mobility needs.
Aistis’s dream was for a brand new Samsung mobile phone so he can keep in touch with his friends and family throughout his recovery.
