Meet Our amazing heroes of the week Sally & Dave đź’ś
I first met Avril five or six years ago when I was planning to retire and “take a step back”. I was going to volunteer my help in the office but very quickly found there was a part time job vacancy I couldn’t resist which filled my shoes perfectly and I was soon working as Office Manager alongside Avril and the team.
During my time at the Dream Factory, I also volunteered to help with events and grant dreams.  At the same time, my partner Dave also became a volunteer.  You couldn’t help but get more and more involved because the charity is so very worthwhile and I personally was able to help some wonderful and very deserving families.
Each dream was different but special in their own way and we have some amazing memories. In this photo Dave and I were granting a dream to Archie who suffers from muscular dystrophy. He was presented with a VIP tour and match at his favourite football club, Colchester United. And we even managed to surprise him with a visit from his top player, Luke Prosser, captain of the club.
Dave and I have volunteered at numerous fundraising events which have also been great fun. In addition, we have helped organise Dream Factory Christmas parties for dream recipients and their families which are the most amazing events that provide these families with a truly magical day out.
I decided eventually that I should “take a step back” and retired just a few months ago but was thrilled to be asked to become a trustee of the Dream Factory. So that’s where we are now and I am delighted to still be involved with this lovely charity.
