PATRONS of Essex-based Charity, The Dream Factory, Anne Wafula-Strike MBE, British Wheelchair Paralympian, former British Super Middleweight boxer Michael Watson MBE, former British Featherweight and Commonwealth Boxer Colin McMillan BEM, and former Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champion athlete specializing in the 400 metres Christine Ohuruogu MBE, will be attending The Dream Factory’s 5K Whizzing Wheels Challenge on Sunday 22 May 2022 at the Redbridge Cycling Centre, Forest Road, Ilford, IG6 3HP between 12.00pm – 4.00pm.
This fabulous event is in collaboration with The Wheels and Wheelchairs Charity, who are a group of wheelchair users and skaters who regularly go out in London parks together, enjoying the sensory rush of speed.
This is the second year this great event has taken place with The Dream Factory and The Wheels and Wheelchair Charity. One of The Dream Factory’s Ambassadors Isaac Harvey, who is also President of the Wheels and Wheelchairs Charity and peer facilitator at One Place East in Redbridge, working with people with disabilities and mental health conditions, suggested the two charities work together in 2021 with the first event being such a great success, that we decided to do it again this year. Isaac has once again been a great help planning the event, and he will also be taking part and fundraising with other Dream Factory Ambassadors.
Anne, Michael, Colin and Christine have said they are so inspired to see the willingness of children helping other children. Anne will also be doing an honorary lap to encourage the other brave wheelchair-based participants, as they are whizzed around the track, whilst being pushed by volunteer roller-skaters at speed.
Avril Mills BEM, Founder and Trustee of The Dream Factory said,
“The 2021 5K Whizzing Wheels Challenge was a great success and we cannot wait to do it all again on Sunday. The event is open for spectators to watch, with FREE entry and there is FREE parking, prize raffles and a café on-site. Why not come along, enjoy the day, and meet our celebrity Patrons – bring your friends, family, picnic and blankets and join us at this amazing and inspiring event. EVERYONE WELCOME – no need to book just turn up at midday – the more the merrier!”
