LAST weekend, The Dream Factory held their first walking challenge and raised over £13,000! The 11-mile walk through the heart of London’s football heritage took them between the three iconic football stadiums of West Ham’s London Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. The 24 walkers and the charity’s Dream Team covered 11 miles, and the challenge was a huge success.
The money raised is a lifeline to the charity who grants dreams to children and young adults between the age of 3 to 25 years, who suffer from life-threatening, life-limiting conditions, have severe disabilities or are sadly having end of life care. Many of The Dream Factory’s Ambassadors attended, as well as a former Dream recipient Oliver Warren, who was granted his dream by the charity 16 years ago. The charity has an urgent appeal for funds at the moment, during these difficult times, as they try to stay alive past 2025.
Avril Mills BEM, Honorary Freeman of The Borough of Redbridge, Founder & Trustee of The Dream Factory Children’s Charity said,
“Thank you to everyone who helped make our 1st walking challenge a huge success! It was a great day with a fantastic bunch of people. We would like to thank everyone who walked with us; everyone who donated, Media 10 Events Publishing who have kindly made us their charity of the year; Riverside East for sponsoring and serving us the best morning coffee and croissants; our amazing patron, British athlete, former Gold Medal Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champion Christine Ohuruogu MBE for warming us up and stretching; Terry Tew Sound & Light for our PA system; Josh Mills, Dream Factory Ambassador & Trustee ( Avril’s Son), and all our volunteers, including walk leaders and first aiders – your help is invaluable to The Dream Factory. This was a great day and has made this week feel very special, as my son Oliver who I set up The Dream Factory in memory of in 20008, would have been 35 on today 13 June 2025.”
