Fun for all the Family at Whizzing Wheels

For the very first time, a shopping centre will be transformed into a magical Whizzing Wheels Santa Skate Track as part of The Dream Factory’s Kids Helping Kids campaign.

This one-of-a-kind experience is taking place at The Exchange Ilford, High Road, Ilford on Sunday, November 24 between 5.30pm and 8pm.

The Dream Factory grants dreams to children and young adults between the age of 3 to 25 years, who suffer from life-threatening, life-limiting conditions, have severe disabilities or are sadly having end of life care.

This fabulous event is in collaboration with The Wheels and Wheelchairs Outdoor Activity Sports Club, a group of wheelchair users and experienced roller skaters who unite regularly to enjoy gliding through London parks together, enjoying the sensory rush of speed.

One of The Dream Factory’s ambassadors Isaac Harvey MBE, who is also President of Wheels and Wheelchairs and peer facilitator at One Place East in Redbridge, working with people with disabilities and mental health conditions, first suggested the two charities work together in 2021 and every event since has been a huge success.

Isaac has once again been a great help planning the event, and he will also be taking part and fundraising with other Dream Factory Ambassadors.

The fun will start with a special appearance by the Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Sheila Bain, who will officially open the event at 5.30pm.

The main event will start at 5.45pm when Isaac Harvey will lead an honorary lap to get the skates rolling, and encourage the other wheelchair-based participants, as they glide around the track, whilst being pushed by dedicated volunteer roller-skaters.

Our Dream Factory Volunteers will also be at The Exchange, Ilford during the day, from 12.30pm selling raffle tickets, for your chance to win a giant cuddly Teddy bear, kindly donated by The Exchange, Ilford.

Avril Mills BEM, Honorary Freeman of The Borough of Redbridge, founder and trustee of The Dream Factory Children’s Charity said: “Dust off your jingle bells and bring your friends, family, kids, and neighbours to support and cheer from the sidelines.

“Everyone is welcome to this free event — just bring your holiday spirit. We are very grateful for the support of Cllr Sheila Bain, the Mayor or Redbridge and our fantastic Ambassador Isaac Harvey on this event.

“It promises to be full of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see you at the Whizzing Wheels Santa Skate!”

There are a couple of spaces to take part in the event, so if you are a wheelchair user who loves the thrill of speed, and would like to help raise money for children and young adults with life-threatening or life-limiting disabilities, please contact for the entry requirements.
